Old boy Don Maclurcan (1999) will set off this coming January,
attempting a 3928km solo run from Perth to Sydney. Crewed by four,
including OB (1999) Guy Weress, the run will raise money for The
Fred Hollows Foundation through pre-race functions and online donations.
The run is a premier event on the '2002 Year of the Outback' calendar
and will feature highly in the press.
Since completion of his studies Don has finished two years of his'
degree in human movement (UTS) and is currently engaged in a diploma
of journalism (ACJ). He has competed, finishing 2nd overall, in
the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race; Sailed aboard the Young Endeavour
from Auckland to Sydney; Taught English and mathematics in South
Korea; Acted as a race official with the Sydney Olympic sailing;
Played 1st division Aussie rules in Sydney for two years, Crewed
for the Trans-Australia Footrace (65 days) and competed in the Australian
24hr and 6 day track championships.
